Responsible gambling

This page starts with the plain facts. All forms of gambling, including online, are prohibited in Indonesia, and there is no domestic gambling regulator. The old Criminal Code covers it in Articles 303 and 303 bis; the new Criminal Code (Law 1/2023) sets penalties in Article 426 for operators (up to 9 years in prison or a fine of up to Rp2 billion) and Article 427 for players (up to 3 years or up to Rp50 million). The Electronic Information and Transactions Law (Law 1/2024), Article 27(2) with Article 45(3), punishes distributing gambling content with up to 10 years or Rp10 billion, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi, formerly Kominfo) blocks gambling sites. If you play anyway, this page is meant to help you notice when play stops being entertainment and to point you towards help.

Where to get help

Readers in Indonesia can reach the Ministry of Health's mental health service (SEJIWA / Healing119.id) on 119 extension 8, free of charge, or at healing119.id. It is a general mental health line, not a gambling-specific one; as of September 2026 we found no national helpline in Indonesia dedicated to gambling addiction. Readers elsewhere should contact their own country's public health service.

Limits to set before playing

  1. A money limit: a monthly amount you can afford to lose entirely, moved into a separate e-wallet.
  2. A time limit: a session length written down before you start.
  3. An account deposit limit: a feature in the operator's profile, where available, that blocks deposits above the cap.

Your wallet as a brake

The simplest spending control runs through the payment route. Keep one wallet, DANA or GoPay for example, only for entertainment; load it at the start of the month and do not link it to your salary account or a card. Remove saved payment methods from the casino account so every deposit needs a deliberate step. When that wallet is empty, the month is over.

Warning signs

If debts are building up

Do not try to clear debt by playing more. Stop depositing, list every obligation and talk to someone you trust. Online loans taken to cover losses almost always make things worse.

Big wins

A big win is often where problems begin, because it plants the memory that play can make money. If you win, withdraw to an account in your own name and do not treat it as a budget for the next session.

Under 18

This content is not for children or teenagers. Parents can use phone parental controls and limit children's access to e-wallets.

Licences, age checks and restricted countries

There is no gambling licence in Indonesia, so a claim of being "licensed in Indonesia" cannot be true. Foreign operators usually require players to be 18+ and list restricted countries in their terms.

Responsible gambling tools: where to start

Start with a deposit limit, because it works before money leaves. A time-out helps when you need distance for days or weeks. Self-exclusion is the firmest step, for when you want to stop altogether. The self-exclusion page explains each one.
